This project expresses a study of soft skin – the semi-transparent facade, as it brushes up against the marred city. The outer shell presents a seductive skin of visible activities within, enticing passers-by.
For inner programs, this project stacks markets layer by layer, including wholesale produce market, Oakland old farmers market, culture kitchen, restaurants, and night market.

These different food-related spaces run at different times. The wholesale produce market opens in the early morning every weekday; Oakland Old Farmers Market opens at weekends, the night market opens at night, and various restaurants have their business hours according to their genres. Being stacked together, these spaces will occupy the site at any time with food, making this building a condensed social life facilitator.
